Lexi started playing basketball for only the second time this year.  Basketball is a game of skill.  It takes effort, practice and determination.   Lexi made the most of it.  She learned the value of hustle, hard work and pushing herself.

What she learned paid off.  Lexi was awarded most improved player.

Being awarded the best player is about your against everyone else.  Most improved player is about you vs you and that is truly the more impressive award.

Well Done!

We are sitting at Lexis last basketball game. This year was her first. She had never played before and I am very proud of the progress she has made.

Basketball is a skill game, it takes time. What Lezi has lacked in skill she has made up for in effort and aggression. In her game today she had 3 rebounds. She gets right in there and scraps with those girls. It’s fun to watch.

New things are hard. They can feel uncomfortable and awkward. They can be intimidating and scary. I think this how it started for Lexi, but it’s not how it has ended.

When we do new things and feel out of our element, being aggressive and playing hard can make the difference.
